This is a unique placement that will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in media literacy in a meaningful and impactful way. You will inspire a curious audience through teaching and facilitating creative and exciting media projects.
Your goal for your time in Peru is to support the students to produce a tangible piece of media. This could be a short video, photography display, advertisement, interviews, etc. You could even run a mini film festival to showcase the work of the children to the local community.
The positive effects of this unique and meaningful program will be immediately evident during your stay in Peru, however, through the piece of media created while you are here, you will also leave a memory that will not be forgotten!
Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. The next day you will have an orientation and you can explore the exciting mix of old and new civilizations of the archaeological capital of the Americas. You will also start to acclimatize to high altitudes.
As a participant on this Challenges Abroad program, you will have a fantastic opportunity to engage with local schools and community projects around the Sacred Valley.
Participants will aim to give the children an invaluable creative media experience by creating a diverse range of memorable pieces. These will allow the recipients of all ages and abilities to learn new skills in filmmaking, photography and other genres of media. In order to make this program as engaging and exciting as possible, you will have the opportunity to teach in a variety of ways including in the classroom, out in the field, one on one with students, and group presentations or workshops.
During your free time you can create your own independent work in a surrounding that will stimulate your creativity with its natural beauty and vibrant local culture.
