Make a real difference to those communities in great need after the earthquakes.
The volunteer project takes place in the Kavre district where your group will lend valuable support to a partner community school which provides free education to the poorest children. You will also help to rebuild our partner communities with some painting and basic renovations. Above all you will bring some much needed smiles by contributing your time in these communities.
The volunteering challenge is truly unique and will test your ability to work in a new environment, within a different culture and to achieve goals as part of a team.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation.
Your volunteer work will take place in our partner communities in and around the Kavre district. Your focus will be to help rebuild the communities with basic renovations and painting and by working at a local community school which provides free education to the poorest children in Kathmandu. At the school the main focus will be on teaching English as this is the most sought after skill by future employers.
Lessons with native English speaking volunteers can help the children make rapid progress, inspire them to pursue education and persist with learning English. Volunteers can work together to take classes if they wish and this is a really good way to boost your confidence in presenting to an audience.
The challenge for your group will also be to lead fun activities in after school clubs where you will work with your students in a more informal setting. This aspect of the challenge is about cultural exchange and also being strong, positive role models for children who come from a variety of difficult backgrounds.
