See a different side of Northern Thailand through this very unique Challenge!
Help teach media literacy to disadvantaged youth and give them the platform to express themselves while exploring all the beauty Thailand as to offer.
This is a unique placement that will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in media literacy whilst having a meaningful impact. You will inspire a curious audience through teaching and facilitating creative and exciting media projects..
Thailand is fully absorbed in the digital age, with a large part of the population embracing the benefits of the last decade’s technological advancements. However the student’s and novice monks that we work with have missed this opportunity to connect and share their creativity and passions.
We have several professional curricula that you can choose from or you can propose your own media topic to teach. Your goal for your time in Thailand is to support the students to produce a tangible piece of media. This could be a short video, photography display, advertisement, interviews, etc. You could even run a mini film festival to showcase the work the children have been able to produce with your help!
The positive effects of this unique and meaningful program will be immediately evident during your stay in Thailand; however, through the piece of media created while you are here, you will also leave a memory that will not be forgotten!
The Kingdom of Thailand has coasts on the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand and borders Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. Undiscovered by travellers for many years, Thailand is now the beating heart of South East Asian tourism and a perennial favourite for career breaks and gap year travel.
The City of Chiang Mai is the largest and most culturally significant in northern Thailand. Chiang Mai is located along the Ping River a major tributary to the Chao Phraya River.
In and around the city there are over 300 Buddhist temples known as ‘Wats’. Sitting majestically on a hilltop not far from Chiang Mai lies Doi Saket with lush mountains in the background. Serving as the cornerstone of the Doi Saket community, it is close to the local market yet surrounded by forests and natural beauty. While internet is not guaranteed in the accomodation, there are a host of internet cafes and free wifi available in the city of Chiang Mai.
One of our local team will be at the airport to pick you up.
