Our mission is to ignite compassion and create a new generation of global citizens.

We help students develop their skillset and grow as individuals, whilst creating unforgettable experiences! As a social enterprise we are committed providing to ethical experiences that have a long-term impact and are mutually beneficial to both our participants and the communities where we work. Since establishment, we've sent out over 2,000 participants on our programs across 6 locations around the world and are looking forward to growing our global community of people who care in 2020!

What makes us different?

Every Challenges Abroad program supports the goals and objectives of our charity, The FutureSense Foundation. FutureSense live and work year round in our partner communities, creating and overseeing development programs that have a long-term and sustainable impact. Our partnership ensures that all of our participants work on ethical projects and can make a long-lasting, positive impact in the community.

Challenges Abroad is much more than travel and volunteering. It's an opportunity for you to become a Global Citizen with a wider world view and an understanding of other cultures and to challenge yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone to help us tackle the challenges currently facing marginalised communities around the world.

Our values:

  • Passion
  • Integrity
  • Empathy

Why should you join an overseas program?

We could go on and on about all the benefits of participating in an overseas program! In fact, you can read about them in depth here and here. Joining one of our programs is a unique opportunity to do something you've never done before and really challenge yourself. You'll have to step out of your comfort zone as you work on projects that are tackling inequality in the communities where we work. You'll have to get used to communicating despite a language barrier, dealing with at times stifling humidity or high altitudes, and spending a couple of weeks in an area where the amenities aren't of the same standard as you're used to back home.

This may sound daunting, but the sense of accomplishment that you'll get when you finish your program will leave you wanting to do it all over again! Not to mention the skills that this sort of challenge will give you. Things like problem solving & communication skills, greater understanding of people with different cultural backgrounds and the ability to work in a team will be so valuable as you go through university and then try to stand out from the crowd and land your first job!

And it won't always be hard work all of the time. You'll be able to do your own travel, explore so many amazing cultural sites and get incredible insight into the culture of the country you're in - far more than you'd gain as a tourist. Just to top it off, you'll be working with other likeminded people from all over the world and you'll make incredible friendships that will last a lifetime!

So now that we've convinced you, it's time to take the leap and choose your program
