PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Perfect for paramedic students, this challenge will see you put your skills to good use as you work alongside local first responders to make an impact on community health!

How you can help

As part of our long-term strategy to improve overall community health, we work on a number of projects that spread knowledge and build emergency response capacity in the community. As a paramedic volunteer, your activities could include:

  • Raising awareness and delivering first aid and safety workshops at schools and in the community to teach locals how to administer first aid and treat themselves in an emergency.

  • Working with local health professionals to upskill new first responders and build a robust network of first response volunteers across the hill tribe villages.

  • Supporting the local hospital and health clinics by conducting community health screenings and doing basic checks for patients visiting the hospital/clinic.

program structure

When you arrive in Thailand you’ll be met by our team at the airport. Over the next few days you’ll have a thorough induction and orientation where you’ll learn about Thai customs and culture, get your bearings around town, meet community partners and gain a better understanding of the context of the projects you’re working on.

Over two weeks, you’ll spend 10 days working in the community and have 2 days off in the middle to do your own travel and exploring . Your day will usually be structured with a morning session (approx. 3 hours) after breakfast and then a session of the same length after lunch. Your afternoons and evenings will be free for you to relax or do any required planning for the next day. On this program you’ll be primarily based in Mae Sariang, but may also spend some time in the remote hill tribe villages we work with.

On the last day, you’ll either be transported back to the airport or you can join our extension trip tour of Northern Thailand!

Extend your volunteer program

After volunteering  you can join our optional extension trip, where you’ll spend a week touring all the sites in Northern Thailand you shouldn’t miss before you head home! You will begin by heading to Chiang Rai to visit the famous White Temple and the Monkey Temple before a Mekong river cruise to the Golden Triangle - the point where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet.

After the markets and nightlife of Chiang Rai you'll head to Chiang Dao for some hiking, bamboo rafting and exploring waterfalls before heading to Pai for some relaxation. This whirlwind tour will see you discovering the best hidden gems of Northern Thailand for a perfect end to your volunteer trip!
